The Johns family, who have a deep history as orchardists in the region, acquired the property in 1980. They officially established the wine label in 1989 when Alan Johns planted the first blocks of vines on the estate.

he property is situated on the historic grounds of the original Yeringa vineyards, which were first developed by the Deschamps family in the late 1800s. Alan Johns utilized this rich history and his extensive farming background to cultivate a vineyard that produces elegant cool climate wines truly representative of the Yarra Valley.

One of the unique aspects of Yering Farm is that the entire production process, from the vineyard to the final bottling, is managed on site. The winemaking team employs traditional techniques including hand tending and maintaining low yields. By utilizing quality French oak for maturation and maintaining a gentle touch in the cellar, they ensure the regional character of the fruit is always preserved.
