Soumah is a premium boutique winery situated in the picturesque Gruyere district, nestled in the foothills of the Warramate Ranges. The name itself is a clever acronym for “South of Maroondah,” reflecting its stunning location just an hour outside of Melbourne. Established in 1997, the estate underwent extensive vineyard development before officially launching the Soumah label in 2010. Their flagship Hexham vineyard forms the heart of their operations, supplemented by fruit sourced from elite single vineyard sites across the region.

Soumah has built a reputation for specialising in sophisticated cool climate styles. While they excel in Yarra Valley staples like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, they are widely recognised for their pioneering work with Northern Italian varieties. This includes impressive releases of Savarro, Brachetto, Nebbiolo, Marzemino, and Barbera, as well as crisp Pinot Grigio.

The winemaking team focuses on savoury elegance and balance, ensuring that terroir is always the hero while keeping oak use restrained. By maintaining low yields and employing sustainable vineyard practices, they consistently produce award winning wines that have garnered critical acclaim worldwide. Beyond the wine, the estate is home to Ai Fiori, an authentic Italian style trattoria. This on site dining destination offers a refined yet relaxed atmosphere where guests can enjoy premium food and wine pairings overlooking the rolling vines.
